From a tiny seed to a tasty sandwich!!

The Rising Stars at Wetherby have been busy doing some growing, with a very tasty end product in mind! It started last week when they very carefully arranged some cotton wool balls in a tray. Separating it with their fingers was very good for developing fine motor skills. Next they poured some water onto the cotton wool before sprinkling a generous amount of cress seeds on. They placed the tray in front of the sunny window and watched them carefully. When the cotton wool started to dry out they added some more water. Slowly but surely the little orange seeds began to change until at last they sprouted tiny little shoots. At home time on Friday the cress was quite tall and looked like it was almost ready for picking. When they arrived this morning after the hot and sunny weekend the cress had shot up, it was definitely ready for picking. It was very exciting!

This morning they went for a walk to the shops to buy some eggs to cook for the tasty treat.  The eggs were boiled and once they had cooled, the shells were carefully removed and the eggs were chopped up. They then mixed in a big spoonful of mayonnaise before spreading the tasty mixture onto wraps. All that was left to do was tuck in!!
